stream based on their faith background and school offering. Both streams are
essay-based and reward students who can connect religious knowledge to ethical
issues, social questions, and contemporary life in Cameroon and Africa. A good
grade in GCE Religious Studies is recognised for admission into education,
social work, theology, and liberal arts programmes. Students who practise consistently
with real GCE Religious Studies past questions develop the structured,
evidence-based writing style that examiners reward.

How to Score High Using GCE Religious Studies Past Questions
GCE Religious Studies past questions from 2010 to present follow consistent patterns that reward students who combine accurate religious knowledge with clear, structured essay writing and real-world application. Here is the method that works.
For GCE A Level Christian Religious Studies, the most consistently tested topics across all years of past questions are the life, teachings, and miracles of Jesus Christ (the Sermon on the Mount, parables, and their ethical implications), the early church (the role of the Apostles, Paul’s missionary journeys, letters to the early churches), Old Testament themes (covenant, prophecy, the role of the prophets), Christian ethics (the application of Christian principles to social issues such as poverty, justice, marriage, and corruption), and the church in Africa and Cameroon (mission history, Africanisation of Christianity, social challenges). Questions on Christian ethics and the teachings of Jesus appear in every past paper.
For GCE A Level Islamic Religious Studies, the most consistently tested topics are the life of the Prophet Muhammad (the Meccan and Medinan periods, Hijra, the conquest of Mecca), the Quran and Hadith (revelation, compilation, importance), the Five Pillars of Islam and their significance, Islamic law (Sharia, family law, moral codes), Islamic ethics applied to contemporary social issues (justice, honesty, treatment of others), and the spread of Islam in West Africa and Cameroon. The application of Islamic principles to modern life and society is tested in every past paper.
For both CRS and IRS, every essay must follow the same structure: introduction that states your argument, body paragraphs each with a clear point supported by specific religious content (Quranic verses, Biblical passages, historical events, teachings), and a conclusion that evaluates and brings the argument together. Students who write only factual narration without making a clear argument consistently score in the lower bands.
For O Level Religious Studies, concentrate on the foundational narratives and teachings of your chosen religion, key figures and their significance, and the practical application of religious principles to everyday life.
GCE English Language past questions from 2010 to present follow consistent patterns that reward students who read carefully, write clearly, and follow instructions exactly. Here is the method that works.
For Paper 1 (Comprehension and Language Use), the most consistently tested areas across all years of GCE English Language past questions are reading comprehension (answering questions directly from the passage in your own words), summary writing (identifying key points and expressing them concisely), vocabulary in context (explaining the meaning of words as used in the passage), and language analysis (identifying literary devices, tone, and register). In comprehension questions, the answer is always in the passage. Students who read the passage first and then match answers to the text consistently score higher than students who write from memory or general knowledge.
For Paper 2 (Composition and Directed Writing), the most tested formats in GCE English Language past questions are formal and informal letters, argumentative essays, narrative and descriptive essays, reports, speeches, and summaries for different audiences. For every composition, plan before you write. Spend five to ten minutes outlining your key points, your argument structure, and your conclusion before writing a single sentence. Students who plan produce more coherent and better-structured responses and consistently score higher.
Grammar accuracy matters in every paper. The most common grammar errors in GCE English Language answers are subject-verb agreement mistakes, incorrect tense use, misuse of articles, poor sentence structure (run-on sentences or fragments), and spelling errors on common words. Review these five areas specifically using GCE English Language past questions before your examination.
For O Level English Language, concentrate on comprehension reading, summary writing, letter writing, and narrative and argumentative compositions. O Level rewards clarity, accuracy, and completeness over complex vocabulary.
